**Exciting Update!**

We are thrilled to announce that The Towhill Foundation has graciously pledged a $50,000 grant to VOKRA's Walk for the Kitties! This incredible support will be unlocked if we can reach at least 75% of our $100,000 fundraising goal by the date of the Walk on September 8th.

Let's join forces to make this happen and extend our support to even more cats and kittens in need, just like sweet Vimy Mom, pictured here in her foster home and earlier at intake!

VOKRA Faces Urgent Fundraising Crisis Ahead of “Walk for the Kitties”

The Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA) urgently calls on the community for support as our upcoming “Walk for the Kitties” event is facing a significant fundraising deficit. With just two weeks remaining until the event on September 8th at Jericho Beach, VOKRA has raised just over $28,000—falling far short of our $100,000 goal. This shortfall comes at a time when our rescue operations are more essential than ever.
VOKRA is at a critical juncture, and without the funds raised from Walk for the Kitties, we may be forced to limit our intake of cats who urgently need our help. We are calling on everyone to participate in the event on September 8th, whether by registering to walk, fundraising, or making a donation. This event is not only vital to VOKRA’s future but to the survival of hundreds of cats in our care.

Get Involved

Volunteers and fosters are at the heart of everything we do. Without them, we couldn’t rescue and find loving homes for the more than 1,400 kittens and cats VOKRA takes in each year. There are many ways to become involved in our organization.

Ways to Give

As a volunteer-driven non-profit, your help is vital to ending cat overpopulation and homelessness. All donations go directly to funding the supplies, equipment, veterinary and operational costs required to ensure the cats in our care are warm, safe and healthy.

Sponsor a Cat

As a sponsor, you’ll help provide care for one of our long-term residents.

Legacy Giving

Consider leaving a gift to current and future cats in VOKRA’s care.

Why pairs are purrfect!

At VOKRA, we're all about the purr-fect match between cats and adopters. Here's why pairs often work best:

  1. Social Skills: Kittens learn vital behaviors from their siblings.

  2. Bonding: Many kittens share a deep bond with their littermates.

  3. Learning Together: From jumping to balancing, kittens teach each other.

  4. Security: Especially for rescued kittens, a sibling offers comfort.

But every kitty's unique! While we love pairs, we always aim for the best fit. Sometimes, a solo kitten might join a home with another cat, or an independent adult cat might prefer flying solo.
